Wanted man arrested and charged after hiding under stairs from Henry Co. officers

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – According to the Henry County Sheriff's Office, a wanted man in Henry County is currently behind bars after he attempted to hide from officers under the stairs and refused to surrender.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers were notified that Ronald Dave Robinette III, wanted on an outstanding warrant, was at a home on Log Manor Road.

When officers arrived, they attempted to get Robinette to leave the apartment and surrender peacefully, but their attempts were unsuccessful.

After a search warrant was issued, they entered the house and found Robinette hiding in a small enclosed room under the stairs. Authorities said he was taken into custody without incident.

During a search, officers apparently discovered narcotics, which led them to obtain a second search warrant.

During a further search, authorities found a small amount of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, a cell phone and two firearms that were determined to be illegally possessed, the sheriff's office said. All evidence has been secured and will be sent to the Western Regional Lab for testing.

Robinette is being held without bail at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.

The Crimestoppers program offers rewards of up to $2,500 for information related to crimes. The nature of the crime and the content of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
