Liam Neeson's acclaimed action thriller The Gray is available to stream for free

Acclaimed actor and Oscar winner Liam Neeson is now known for his special skills in the world of action films. And you can now stream one of his best pieces for free. While much of Neeson's action caper involves him fighting with nameless henchmen, the 2012 survival action thriller The gray one finds that he is fighting something completely different: grief and wolves.

Co-written, produced and directed by Joe Carnahan, The gray one Frank Grillo, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, Joe Anderson, Nonso Anozie and James Badge Dale alongside Neeson, who takes the lead as John Ottway, a skilled sniper working at a remote oil facility in Alaska. Ottway mourns the loss of his wife and wonders whether life is even worth living. After a plane crash, he and a small group are stranded. As if that wasn't bad enough, a pack of Canadian gray wolves has started stalking them.

The gray one was met with extremely positive reviews at the time, sitting at 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and is now available to stream courtesy of Prime Video Ad on, Amazon Freevee. With the extremely gruff delivery that Neeson is known (and loved) for, The gray one is much more than just a simple man versus wolf film that deals with religion, philosophy, grief and humanity's endless will to survive, no matter the odds. There are also some man-on-wolf fights and some epic speeches, delivered by Neeson in his growling, captivating tones with purely cinematic earnestness. Which are always entertaining… even if they cut things off too quickly.

Although Liam Neeson is threatening to retire from the action film genre, he currently has several explosive projects in the pipeline. The actor will direct the crime thriller absolution next month, for which the first trailer was recently released. Liam Neeson's career as an action hero has had its ups and downs, but Blacklight remains his most controversial film.

The Taken Star is set to direct the upcoming reboot of The naked weapon by director Akiva Schaffer and based on an original story by Family Guys Seth MacFarlane. The reboot sees Neeson take over the franchise from the late, great Leslie Nielsen as Frank Drebin Jr., while the rest of the cast includes Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, CCH Pounder and Busta Rhymes . The naked weapon Reboot is scheduled to be released by Paramount Pictures on July 18, 2025.
