Matthew Perry's mother believes the late Friends star had a “premonition” shortly before his death.

“He went through a time, interestingly enough, right before he died, when he showed me one of his new houses,” Suzanne Morrison recalled to Savannah Guthrie on the “Today” show on Friday.

“He came up to me and said, 'I love you so much and I'm so happy to be with you now.' … It was almost like it was a premonition or something.”

Morrison, who is married to longtime “Dateline” correspondent Keith Morrison, shared that she “didn't think anything” of her son's sweet comment at the time, even though it seemed a little unusual to her.

“‘How long has it been since we had a conversation like this? “It’s been years,” she recalled.

“I think there was something; There was an inevitability of what was about to happen next to him and he felt it very strongly. But he said, 'I'm not afraid anymore,' and that worried me.”

Guthrie's full interview with Suzanne, Keith and other members of Perry's family is scheduled to air on “Today” next Monday, the first anniversary of the sitcom star's untimely death.

Perry died in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023. He was 54 years old.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office subsequently announced that the cause of death was the acute effects of ketamine, listing drowning and coronary heart disease as causative factors.

Before his death, Perry publicly stated that he was sober after decades of battling addiction.

However, prosecutors in Los Angeles said in August that the Emmy nominee had relapsed and “spiraled out of control” due to unsupervised use of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic.

Five people – including his personal assistant, doctors and a drug dealer – were subsequently charged in connection with Perry's death.
