Calhoun woman arrested in Towns County on drug charges…

A Calhoun woman was arrested in Towns County on drug possession charges following a months-long investigation by the Towns County Sheriff's Office.

The department's narcotics detective reportedly received a tip about a person of interest who was allegedly transporting illegal and controlled substances into the county. TCSO conducted surveillance Mary Ann Walker, 60, then conducted a traffic stop on her Monday evening.

During the traffic stop, probable cause was determined and authorities searched the vehicle, the department said in a Facebook post. The search reportedly led to the discovery of a substance for which a positive test was performed at the scene methamphetamine and marijuana. Both quantities were packaged for sale, the post says. Investigators also discovered Xanax pills, drug paraphernalia and a quantity of cash in the vehicle.

Walker was arrested and charged with:

• Felony: Possession of methamphetamine

• Felony possession of a controlled substance with intent
