Morehouse says Metro ATL student killed in car crash

ATLANTA, GA – A Morehouse College student died in a car accident Thursday morning, college officials said in a Facebook post.

Morehouse said Jayden Mango of Pelham, Class of 2026, died from his injuries. Details of the crash were not released.

Mango was a junior at Morehouse, majoring in cinema, television and new media and minoring in education.

“Jayden was a vibrant member of our campus community, known for his creativity, kindness and commitment to his studies. Jayden's presence enriched the lives of everyone around him. He loved storytelling and had the vision to use his talents to uplift and educate others through the world.” “Beyond his academic pursuits, Jayden was recognized for his generous spirit, calm leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Morehouse community. “Admired ideals of excellence and brotherhood,” Morehouse officials wrote in the Facebook post.

Morehouse offers counseling services to anyone who needs support. Appointments can be made by calling (470) 639-0231.

A mental health center is available to students on campus, and faculty and staff can seek counseling through the Cigna Behavior Hotline (866) 912-3339 or the Life Assistance Program (800) 538-3543.

“On behalf of the Morehouse community, we extend our deepest condolences to Jayden’s family, friends, classmates and professors. The death of such a bright, promising young man has deeply affected our entire community. We ask that you keep his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as you cope with this difficult loss,” Morehouse stated.
