Man arrested after allegedly killing a woman and elderly couple in Catawba County

MAIDEN, NC (WBTV) – A man is behind bars after allegedly shooting a woman and her elderly parents in Catawba County Tuesday night.

The shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. at a home on PJ McRee Road, just off Highway 321 Business in Maiden.

Virgin police said when officers arrived they found the three people dead. A 10-year-old was also in the home but was not injured.

Within an hour of the shooting, 27-year-old Issac Nathaniel Christenbury was arrested on Maiden Highway in Lincoln County. Officials said he fled the scene after the shots were fired.

Christenbury is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and is being held without bail at the Catawba County Detention Center. Police said they were not looking for any other suspects.

The Catawba County Sheriff's Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) are assisting in the investigation.
