Cause of death announced for woman found at desk in Tempe Wells Fargo office

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner has announced the cause of death for the Wells Fargo employee who was found dead at her desk a few days after starting work.

The coroner said she died of “sudden cardiac death due to myocardial fibrosis,” meaning scar tissue has formed in the heart. Medical experts say heart attacks are often the most common cause of the disease.

According to Tempe police, 60-year-old Denise Prudhomme, who worked at Wells Fargo's corporate headquarters near Priest Drive and Washington Street, went to work at 7 a.m. on August 16. Four days later, on August 20, Tempe officers responded to reports of a “subject” and found Prudhomme dead.

No signs of foul play were found. Authorities have not said who called police or who first spotted her at her desk.
