Tooele Co. correctional officer faces charges of forcible sexual misconduct with an inmate

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah – A Tooele County Detention Center officer has been arrested and faces multiple charges after he allegedly sexually touched an inmate while working at the detention center.

Cody Alan Rutledge is charged with seven counts of sexual misconduct in prison. Court documents show the incidents in question began at the prison in January 2022 and continued until March of last year.

While employed as a prison guard or deputy, Rutledge is accused of kissing the female victim and forcing her to touch him. He is also accused of pushing and grabbing the victim from behind for sexual gratification.

Rutledge appeared in court Thursday, where a scheduling conference was scheduled for Nov. 12, 2024.
