U.S. Makes Encouraging Progress in Reducing Crime and Drug Deaths • NC Newsline

With all the sobering news in the world today, it's easy to overlook the fact that some key indicators are trending in a very positive direction.

The US economy has been on an upward trend for some time and, fortunately, there is also good news about crime and dangerous drugs.

New FBI data shows that murders and intentional homicides fell 11.6% from 2022 to 2023, and overall property and violent crime rates also fell.

Additionally, the CDC also reports a sharp and encouraging decline in fatal drug overdoses of more than 10%.

Unfortunately, you wouldn't know about this encouraging news if you only listened to the doom-laden politicians and talking heads on TV ranting about the supposed hellscape our country has become.

The bottom line: There is no doubt that our country still has a lot of work to do, but the new crime and health reports show that we are making real progress and will continue to do so if we stay the course and adhere to deliberate public solutions capture what already existed worked well.
