Colombia teenager charged with armed robbery

COLUMBIA, Missouri (KMIZ)

A teenager has been charged in an armed robbery that allegedly occurred over the summer.

Styles Carter, 18, of Columbia, was charged with first-degree robbery and burglary. He is being held without bail in the Boone County Jail. A court date has not been agreed. A mugshot was not immediately available Friday evening.

According to a probable cause statement, police were called to the 5000 block of Clark Lane at 1:24 a.m. July 31. The caller claimed she had been robbed about 25 minutes earlier, the statement said.

The victim told police that she was at a friend's house when she recognized Carter, the statement said. Another man with Carter allegedly had a gun in his waistband, the statement said. According to court documents, Carter and the man were in a 2013 Ford Fusion during the robbery.

Court documents allege Carter told the other man to grab his gun and the man pointed it at the victims. Carter then allegedly demanded money, the statement said. According to court documents, the victims handed over $400.

Carter and the other man then drove off, the statement said. One of the victims was able to provide Carter's Instagram handle, but claimed Carter suspended his account after the incident, court documents say.

Attached to the court hearing was a second probable cause statement alleging that Carter and another man forcibly entered a home on May 26 and attempted to steal a phone. One of the victims could recognize Carter's voice, the statement said. A man with Carter allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at one of the residents.
