The Cardinals could look to the Dodgers' playoff hero for offensive help in 2025

The St. Louis Cardinals finished the 2024 regular season with a record of 83-79, missing the postseason for the second straight year. Now they seem to be prepared for some sort of rebuild.

However, just because they are on the verge of rebuilding doesn't mean they will blow up their roster. They should at least hope to avoid another season like 2023, when they finished 71-91 and fell to last place in the National League Central.

They probably won't make any major additions this offseason, but they can still make impactful moves. Maybe they could target Enrique Hernandez.

Hernandez is having a torrid postseason with the NL champion Los Angeles Dodgers. The 33-year-old is hitting .303 with two home runs, five RBI and an OPS of .863.

His regular season numbers weren't great, as he only hit .229 with an OPS of .654, but he hit 12 home runs and drove in 42 runs. The veteran brings power from the right side of the field, can play multiple positions on the field and can also be a clubhouse leader as St. Louis has a ton of young players.

Hernandez is also not far away from a 20-homer season with the Boston Red Sox in 2021. So if given the opportunity to play every day, he could certainly be an impactful player and add a spark to their offense.

Think of him similar to Brendan Donovan, but from the right side of the plate.

The offense is what killed the Cardinals in 2024. We'll see if they consider such an addition for 2025.
