The 73-year-old man was arrested on Thursday following a shooting Camp Second Chancethe tiny house village on Myers Way, remains in jail tonight. Seattle Police have released further information about the incident. They describe the suspect as a convicted felon, which is why he may face charges of unlawful possession of a weapon. The initial report that brought them to the scene was that he fired from his unit into “the common areas,” and then when a staff member checked on him, he “fired another two shots through the door.” Neither the employee nor anyone else was injured, but police say the suspect continued to fire shots after he arrived. Officers from the hostage negotiation team arrived and after nearly two hours convinced him to surrender. Police said they found the gun and “ballistics evidence” after obtaining a search warrant. The next step is to consider whether charges will be filed expeditiously by early next week. His name is fairly common, so it's hard to tell from court records what he was previously convicted of; The most recent case against someone with that name was in 2000.
