Phoenix Suns reveal starters against Los Angeles Lakers

The Phoenix Suns will use the following starting five against the Los Angeles Lakers:

Tyus Jones
Bradley Beal
Devin Booker
Kevin Durant
Yusuf Nurkic

The Suns initially listed Beal as likely to have a shoulder injury before coach Mike Budenholzer confirmed before the game that the star would play.

Beal scored 24 points for the Suns on Wednesday, showing off some of the scoring prowess Phoenix was hoping for when it traded for him last summer.

Durant led all Suns players with 25 points but turned the ball over seven times. His seven rebounds and three steals ultimately helped Phoenix defeat the Clippers in overtime.

Jones – who was brought in as the starting point guard to help stabilize Phoenix's offense – nearly had a double-double with 11 points and eight assists. Most importantly, neither he nor backup point guard Monte Morris contributed to the Suns' 22 turnovers to start the season.

Booker himself scored 15 points before committing a foul late in the game. He also added four rebounds and six assists before moving to the bench for good.

All eyes were on Nurkic to see how much the center shot in his first game under new coach Mike Budenholzer. After the 1:4 from deep we will see whether the strategy changes at all.

Grayson Allen (personal) and Josh Okogie (hamstring injury) are out tonight.

After nearly losing Wednesday's game to the Clippers, the Suns know the Lakers could make them pay this time.

“We have to come out of halftime better in the next game. I love, I love, I love what we did in the fourth quarter when we were down eight to nine points,” Durant said after the win. “They hit tough threes to keep us away, got stops, got some good points and some easy points in transition. We moved the basketball, so it was a great team win.”

We'll see if they can get to 2-0 here shortly.
