Warm start to Wednesday before cooling off towards the end of the work week

The Islip Airport reached a new record high of 82 degrees on Tuesday. That beats the previous record of 77 set in 1979.

It will warm up again on Wednesday before temperatures cool down. Wednesday will be sunny with high temperatures in the 70s. A cold front will pass through overnight, bringing cooler temperatures for the rest of the week.

Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly clear through the start of the weekend, with highs in the 60s. Lows will fall into the 40s.

Dry weather is expected along the entire route. The coolest day will be Sunday, with a real fall feel and highs in the 50s before temperatures rise again next week.

Be aware of the fire danger in the coming days as there will be drought conditions and very dry ground with a light breeze.
