Peninsula man accused of attacking mother and locking her out of her home

REDWOOD CITY, CA – A 50-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his 73-year-old mother and locked her out of their Redwood City home earlier this week, according to police.

Redwood City police said 50-year-old Savalas McKibben was arguing with his mother on Tuesday, which led to her injuries. He then allegedly locked her out of her apartment in the 100 block of Cypress Street.

When police arrived, they found the victim with visible injuries. They later found McKibben in the backyard of the residence and he was arrested, police said.

Police later learned that McKibben was currently on probation in San Mateo County, and a probation search of his bedroom allegedly revealed that he was in possession of an unialized firearm, additional handgun ammunition, rifle ammunition, various firearm parts and suspected narcotics.

He was arrested and booked into Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of elder abuse and weapons violations.
