Sai Pallavi's controversial comments on Indian Army go viral. Check out the video

Sai Pallavi has landed in hot water. An old video of the 'Premam' actress has resurfaced and gone viral for all the wrong reasons. In the clip, she can be seen describing the Indian Army as a “terrorist group” in Pakistan and working to combat violence. “People in Pakistan think our army is a terrorist group. But for us they are. So the perspective changes. I don’t understand violence.” The video is from 2022.

Internet users react

Even though the video is over two years old, it still sparked outrage. Many criticized the “Shyam Singha Roy” actress as “anti-national”. One X user wrote, “Historian Sai Pallavi is back! Comparing the Hindu genocide in Kashmir to cattle smuggling – brilliant insight, right? And now she's cast as Mata Sita? Bollywood's casting is in full swing… but not in a good way! At this rate, they are left with only one audience: their PR team!” Another said, “It's so sad that this communist Sai Pallavi is playing the role of Sita Ma in the Ramayana.”

Another user pointed out that India was never the aggressor. “Has India ever invaded other countries’ territories to be seen as terrorists? Hasn't India always been the victim of guarding its territories from all sides against Pakistan and China? Then why should Indian soldiers even be “perceived” as terrorists?,” the tweet said.

However, some fans claimed that the actress was misquoted and critics only shared parts of the clip and not her entire speech. In another video, they said that the “Maari 2” star had merely refrained from violence and had not denigrated the Indian Army.

For the unversed, the actress will soon star as Mata Sita in the epic Ramayana opposite Ranbir Kapoor. The magnum opus will be directed by “Dangal” director Nitesh Tiwari.

'KGF' star Yash is essaying the role of Ravana in one of the biggest films to date, with Sunny Deol reportedly cast as Lord Hanuman. Ramayana also serves as Sai Pallavi's most awaited work Bollywood debut.

Furthermore, Pallavi is gearing up for the release of her Tamil film AmaranDirector: Rajkumar Periasamy. This film, inspired by India's Most Fearless: True Stories of the Modern Military by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, produced by Kamal Haasan. Also starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, Amaran The cinema release is scheduled for October 31st.
