Game time, TV coverage will have to wait for the SMU Homecoming game against Pitt

The SMU Mustangs will face the Pitt Panthers on Saturday, November 2nd, but on Monday it was announced that the league would be using a six-day flex window. Both teams are ranked in the Top 25 and are currently undefeated in ACC play, while the Panthers are undefeated overall.

Pitt had a bye last week and on Thursday the Panthers face Syracuse, which has only one loss this year. SMU is fresh off a 40-10 win over Stanford on Saturday to qualify for the bowl, and the Mustangs face Duke on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. CT on ACC Network.

“The Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN have announced that they will use a six-day flex to determine kickoff times and networks for all six games in ACC play scheduled for Week 10 on Saturday, November 2nd,” says the press release. “Game times and networks will be determined as part of a six-day selection following the conclusion of games in Week 9.”

Week 10 games include: Louisville at Clemson, Stanford at NC State, North Carolina at Florida State, Virginia Tech at Syracuse, Pitt at SMU and Duke at Miami.

With this flexible window, SMU is also waiting to find out if ESPN College Gameday may travel to the Hilltop for the first time ever.

SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee is excited that the Mustangs are bowl eligible, but isn't happy with that position either. In their first year in the ACC, the Mustangs are tied for the top of the league in points and are in the College Football Playoff.

“It's great. After seven games we are eligible to play, which is something we have to tick off every year. That’s your hope,” Lashlee said after the Stanford win. “If you want to get anywhere, you have to get to this point. To make it in our first year in the league is humbling. I think our guys know that we've just put ourselves in a position to keep playing for points down the line, but I don't think we're going to sit around and be satisfied that that's the end result, that We want it, it’s a big deal and that’s why we’re really proud of ourselves.”

As Kevin Jennings Pitt is developing into SMU's quarterback star and has found its quarterback with the transfer to Alabama Eli Holstein. Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi spoke Monday about finding quarterbacks who fit on both sides if you need to secure a transfer.

“You want to find that — you want to get the guy who believes in you so that you can turn him into gold,” Narduzzi said. “And I think that obviously happened with Eli. To me, that's what happened to McCord when he obviously wasn't good enough to play at Ohio State or whatever. I don't know what these problems are. But he’s phenomenal.”

An early lineup for SMU-Pitt has not been released, but the Mustangs are the 11.5-point favorites to face Duke this weekend, according to FanDuel.
