With ESPN College GameDay in town, Coach Lee Corso Day will be held Saturday in Bloomington.

GameDay plans to televise Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson live to make the proclamation around 10:15 a.m., the city of Bloomington said.

GameDay will be broadcast live from the south end of Memorial Stadium beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing through kickoff at noon.

Corso, the vivacious and popular former IU football coach, has been a fixture on ESPN College GameDay since joining the show in 1987.

Corso has been known for his predictions for years, donning giant mascot heads and even donning school mascot uniforms at times during his lively GameDay stint.

GameDay makes its first Saturday appearance at an Indiana football game when 7-0 coach Curt Cignettis and the 13th-ranked Hoosiers host Washington in a Big Ten game (Noon, BTN).

Corso coached the IU football program from 1973 to 1982.

In 1979, Corso led the Hoosiers to a 7-4 record and a 38-37 victory over 11-0 BYU in the Holiday Bowl. This was IU's first bowl win in program history.

Corso coached with the Hoosiers for 10 years, and although he was released with a career record of 41-68-2, his outspoken affection for IU and Bloomington has made him an enduring figure in the city and across campus.
