1 minute read

A historic college football rivalry is coming to North Jersey as Notre Dame will play Navy at noon Saturday at MetLife Stadium. According to the Rutherford Police Department, fighter jets are scheduled to take off from Teterboro Airport and fly over MetLife Stadium some time before the game begins.

Police posted on Facebook that five Navy F/A-18 jets arrived at Teterboro Airport on Friday. Two jets arrived at the airport after 1 p.m., the other three between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m., the post said.

Although they are expected to fly to MetLife before the game, their departure time is not yet known.

The expected matchup between two teams both ranked in the top 25 of the US LBM Coaches Poll will be the 97th time they have faced off and the second time they have faced off at MetLife.

Many players from both teams will represent North Jersey when they return close to home for the game.
