Former deputy charged with murdering wife had threatened ex – NBC 6 South Florida

A former Orange County deputy accused of killing his wife, a lieutenant in the Orange County Sheriff's Office, and trying to portray her death as a suicide was accused of threatening his ex-wife more than a decade ago on NBC affiliate WESH.

Anthony Shea, a 49-year-old former sergeant, was arrested Friday for assaulting Lt. Eloilda “Ellie” Shea, 39, is said to have shot and killed in the home they shared in Orlando.

He said they argued because he was caught having an affair while on duty, which led to his resignation.

WESH reports that the suspect's ex-wife, Nancy Shea, with whom he shares five children, filed for a domestic violence restraining order in 2012.

According to court documents, “she discovered that (Anthony Shea) had been unfaithful on multiple occasions.”

“I’m afraid of what he might do to me,” Nancy Shea said in the petition. “He told me that he wishes and wants ten men to rape me.”

The next year, Nancy Shea filed another petition with the court, claiming that her ex-husband had “abused” their children.

Anthony Shea is currently charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Eloilda Shea.

“Anthony Shea attempted to mislead investigators by creating an alibi and stating a motive for suicide,” an arrest report said. “The investigation determined that Anthony Shea’s actions were organized and premeditated.”

He skipped his first appearance before a judge after officers arrested him.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said it was dealing with “shock, sadness and guilt.”

“She lit up every room she walked into with her infectiously vibrant personality, beautiful spirit and kind smile. Ellie was a mentor, teacher, advocate, protector, cheerleader, and inspiration to women seeking leadership roles. A loving mother of two little girls, “Ellie served her community with grace, integrity and pride and we will miss her deeply,” the sheriff's office wrote in a post on X.

Anthony Shea is being held without bail in the Orange County Jail.
