Tom Brady is on the verge of building a franchise quarterback – but not with the Patriots

Tom Brady could be in the New England Patriots Hall of Fame. But now he's a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Soon, Brady could have a direct impact on the team, especially when it comes to the team's quarterback situation.

Last week, Raiders owner Mark Davis was asked what role Brady will play in the organization. Davis said defining a role right now would mean “putting the cart before the horse.”

Still, Davis said it was “exciting” to have Brady with the Raiders – and that the future Hall of Famer could play a key role in shaping the future of the quarterback position.

“Even though Tom can't play, I think he can help us select a quarterback in the future and possibly coach him as well.”

The Raiders are currently in quarterback purgatory. The team brought in veteran Gardner Minshew as a free agent this year to compete with second-year quarterback Aidan O'Connell.

Minshew was named the season opener before being benched for O'Connell earlier this month. Until O'Connell broke his thumb last week and Minshew found himself behind center again. The Raiders have since signed quarterback Desmond Ridder to provide depth.

From today's perspective, the Raiders' future quarterback does not appear to be on the roster at the moment. At 2-5, Las Vegas could be in a position to snag one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft – and rely on Brady to help evaluate him.

Even if the Raiders don't sign a quarterback, Brady still represents a real selling point for potential free agents considering Las Vegas as a free agent.
