Jimmy Kimmel goes on the campaign trail in Las Vegas

He may be taking a break from shows this week, but Jimmy Kimmel isn't exactly lounging on the beach.

The Jimmy Kimmel Live! The host was in his hometown of Las Vegas on Monday, helping to support the Democratic Party alongside his old family friend and Nevada Sen. Jacky Rosen.

Kimmel made several campaign stops on Rose Monday.

When he visited a Harris campaign field office within sight of the house where he grew up, he spoke to a group of volunteer door knockers and thanked them for their work.

“This state and this city are so important,” he told them. “Las Vegas could, of course, determine whether Jacky Rosen gets re-elected, but it could determine what happens across the country.”

Rosen is in a tight race against Republican challenger Sam Brown.

Speaking to a group of Culinary Workers Union members at another stop, Kimmel told a story about how his father worked as a waiter at a Trump building in New York, where he served Donald Trump's father breakfast every morning – and Every morning Fred Trump gave him a paltry tip of five cents.

“When these people — Donald Trump and Sam Brown — tell you that they are on your side and care about you, remember that,” Kimmel told the group.

“I know Donald Trump is coming to Las Vegas. And I know that thousands of people will come and cheer him on. And I know that when Donald Trump wakes up in the morning in one of our hotels, probably his own, and he looks at his bed and the pillow is covered in orange makeup, do you think he has a twenty dollar bill on the leave bed? I’d bet any dollar he wouldn’t.”

Although late-night hosts once tended to keep their personal politics secret, in recent years hosts like Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and Andy Cohen have championed their favorite candidates on both a local and national level.

Kimmel, who took part in fundraising efforts for Joe Biden earlier this year, supported Rosen in her successful first run for the Senate in 2018 and worked with her on the vote-granting effort in Nevada during the 2000 presidential election.
