One Direction's biggest hits return to the charts following the first death of a member

Earlier this month, the world lost a beloved musician. Liam Payne died on October 16 after a fall in Argentina. He was only 31 years old and the circumstances of his death are still to be fully clarified.

After Payne's death, fans streamed and purchased the music he released during his lifetime. Several of his solo hits are on the rise, and a handful of One Direction's most famous tracks are back on multiple charts in his home country of Britain. Payne was one of the five members of the boy band and his followers show their love by supporting everything he recorded.

Three One Direction tracks storm back into two charts each. They've all spent some time on these tallies – sometimes a year or more – and now they're a hit again.

“Night Changes” is currently the highest ranked One Direction single in the UK charts. This song wasn't the band's biggest hit during their time together, but some fans obviously feel that the theme and tone fit this difficult moment.

This single returns to number 50 on the official singles downloads list. This week she's back at number 55 on the Official Singles Sales list.

“Story of My Life” appears right next to “Night Changes” on both charts. This previous title comes in at number 51 on the download rankings and at number 56 on the list of the best-selling titles in the country.

“What Makes You Beautiful,” the hit that started it all for One Direction, ranks lowest in the group, even though it may be the group's most successful composition. This first hit lands at number 77 on the Official Singles Downloads list and three places lower on the Official Singles Sales list.
