What game does Tom Brady call this week?

play

Tom Brady is scheduled to play his eighth NFL game with Fox's top broadcast team this Sunday.

Brady called the Super Bowl rematch in Week 7but he also received some big news beforehand. On Wednesday, October 16, NFL owners officially approved Tom Brady's offer to purchase a 10 percent stake in the Las Vegas Raiders along with a business partner. The approval was the final part of a process that began in May 2023 and comes with some notable restrictions that could impact Brady's new career as a broadcaster.

Since Brady now owns 5 percent of the Raiders, he is officially a minority owner of an NFL franchise. As a broadcaster, this brings with it limitations. According to ESPN's Seth Wickersham, here is a list of those restrictions:

  • Brady is not allowed onto another team's facility
  • He cannot attend team practices
  • He cannot attend broadcast production meetings in person or virtually
  • He cannot publicly criticize match officials
  • He cannot publicly criticize other teams
  • Brady is subject to the NFL's gambling policy
  • He is also subject to the NFL's anti-tampering policy

Brady's skills as a broadcaster were scrutinized. Although his debut received mixed reactions, he continues to improve with every opportunity in the cabin. However, these limitations bring new challenges to the state of TB12.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion is still busy holding the microphone on Sundays. His first season as a broadcaster will be culminating in February when he calls Super Bowl 59.
