Jaire Alexander injury update: Packers cornerback injured his leg in the game against the Jaguars

play

GREEN BAY – Jaire Alexander played all 57 defensive snaps in Jacksonville on Sunday.

It is the 57th that raises doubts about his availability this week.

The Green Bay Packers cornerback came up limping as he attempted to cover Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram for a 14-yard touchdown pass with 1 minute, 48 seconds left. The game tied the score at 27 apiece on Sunday before the Packers got in position for a game-winning field goal as time expired.

Alexander was unable to put any weight on his right leg as Engram went upfield to pass, a non-contact injury. He hopped his left leg out of the end zone. Alexander made it back to the Packers sideline, but since the ensuing possession ended, the Packers defense never returned to the field.

It's possible that Alexander wouldn't have been available for a possible last stand with the Packers' defense had Sunday's game gotten that far.

What is Jaire Alexander's injury status?

Tests showed Alexander's injury is not serious, but he is in severe pain, a league source said. Alexander needs to sort that out to play this week, so his status is uncertain.

What did coach Matt LaFleur say about Jaire Alexander's injury status?

“After today I’ll have a better idea,” coach Matt LaFleur said.
