2 SSI exams in November but none for 2024 in December. Here's why

play

Social Security recipients who also receive Supplemental Security Income will receive three payments in November: their regular monthly Social Security check — a government-issued retirement income for people age 62 and older — and two SSI payments.

However, in December – a peak spending month for many – recipients will not receive an SSI payment for the 2024 calendar year.

A similar situation occurred earlier this year when recipients received two SSI checks in August but none in September.

Here's what Texans need to know:

Why aren't SSI checks being issued in December?

SSI recipients will receive their November payment on November 1st. However, because December 1 falls on a Sunday, December SSI payments will be distributed on Friday, November 29, according to the Social Security Administration calendar.

Are there any elapsed months in 2025?

SSI recipients actually receive a payout in December; however, it will be counted towards the calendar year 2025. Under this pattern, SSI payments for February and March are issued on the last day of the previous month.

As a result, SSI beneficiaries will not receive a payment in March. Likewise, recipients will receive two payments in May 2025 but none in June.

SSI recipients will receive their January payment on December 31st, February payment on January 31st and March payment on February 28th.
