Phoenix Suns unveil starter against Los Angeles Lakers

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns have announced their starting five ahead of today's game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

PHOENIX SUNS LAUNCH FIVE

Tyus Jones
Bradley Beal
Devin Booker
Kevin Durant
Yusuf Nurkic

The Suns are currently 2-1 after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in their home opener over the weekend. Los Angeles is undefeated at 3-0.

Through three games, Jones' impact on the field was notable as he led Phoenix's offense to success. The free agent signing only had two turnovers in the Suns' first three games.

Beal was questionable due to elbow soreness before he was reportedly cleared by John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports. Coach Mike Budenholzer said Beal had to “check some boxes” before the game, but they were feeling confident.

Rookie Ryan Dunn started in Beal's place and was instrumental in helping the Suns get past the Mavericks on Saturday.

“I think it was a great night for Ryan (Dunn). The fact that (Luka Dončić) is one of the best, best players in our league, a top test in our league to go into the laboratory and learn from,” said Mike Budenholzer after the game.

“He's had some good possession opportunities and he's had some possession opportunities where we can look at that and talk about where he can improve. I thought the defense and his athleticism was a positive, and then the three-pointer in the fourth quarter was huge, the three-pointers throughout the game, shooting it with confidence. You know, a good night for Ryan (Dunn).”

Durant and Booker combined for 53 points in Phoenix's loss to the Lakers on Friday. Nurkic bounced back from a poor game against Los Angeles with a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds.

The opening is scheduled for shortly after 7:00 p.m. local time at the Footprint Center.
