Wall Street is sliding amid a surge in earnings and rising Treasury yields

Oct 29 (Reuters) – Wall Street opened lower on Tuesday as investors assessed a variety of corporate results and looked to numbers from Google parent Alphabet (gogetL.O).opens new tab Earnings rose later in the day, while rising U.S. Treasury yields also pressured stocks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI)opens new tab fell 177.91 points or 0.42% to 42,209.66. The S&P 500 (.SPX)opens new tab fell 7.34 points, or 0.13%, to 5,816.18 at the open, while the Nasdaq Composite (.IXIC)opens new tab rose 8.9 points, or 0.05%, to 18,576.088 at the opening bell.
