DOCUMENTARY

“Hijack” star Idris Elba is expected to film a new documentary for the series BBC Exploring the British academic on knife crime. In “Idris Elba: A Year of Knife Crime” (working title), the star explores the reality of knife crime and possible solutions to solve it. As part of the documentary, he speaks to criminals, survivors, the police and even Prime Minister Keir Starmer He also explored his own life choices, which led him down a very different path.

“Many people dismiss knife crime as something that doesn't affect them and assume it's an urban, black and brown gang-related problem – but that couldn't be further from the truth,” Elba said. “White, middle-class and rural areas are also affected, the perpetrators are getting younger and fear is spreading. I hope our film will help change these stereotypes and encourage everyone to confront one of the biggest challenges of our time. It’s been a tough year for me – but I’m hopeful.”
