You still have the opportunity to pre-order the retro PS5 today

If you missed Sony's short pre-order window for the PS5 30th anniversary console, you're about to get another chance. The retro hardware quickly sold out in the first pre-order period on September 26th, leaving fans furious over Sony's predictably frustrating ordering process. A warning on Sony's product page (via Kotaku) says the second round will take place on Tuesday, October 29th at 12pm ET.

The limited edition consoles and accessories have a retro design reminiscent of the original PlayStation that launched in Japan in 1994. This includes an elegant gray color scheme that gives the old-fashioned Playstation logo room to really shine.

Sony

The message (“Please check back October 29th starting at 9:00 a.m. PDT”) only appears on the 30th anniversary product pages for the $500 PS5 Slim bundle and the $80 DualSense -Controller. Unfortunately, no such message appears on the PS5 Pro Retro Pack product pages or the PlayStation Portal.

Assuming only the Slim bundle is available, this is your second (and perhaps last) chance to get the cheaper of the two consoles. It includes the digital PS5 Slim (no disc drive!), a standard DualSense controller (also fitting for the occasion), a retro cable connector case, PlayStation-shaped cable ties and a vertical stand. Oh, and there are a few extras like a sticker, a poster, and a PlayStation paperclip that we can only imagine will sell for three figures on eBay after the bundle drops on November 21st.
