A winter storm warning is in effect, up to 16 inches of snow is possible for Casper Mountain today

CASPER, Wyo. — A winter storm warning is in effect Tuesday through Wednesday morning for western and central Wyoming as a system brings gusty winds and snow to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, Casper Mountain could see 12 to 16 inches of snow accumulation, with 4 to 6 inches possible at lower elevations. The rain is expected to begin Tuesday morning and transition to rain and snow between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Snow is expected after 5 p.m. and will continue until Wednesday morning and then taper off.

Tuesday's high of 38 degrees will be reached early before falling below 30 degrees and falling to 28 degrees overnight.

On Wednesday there will be high temperatures of 36 degrees and snow early. Overnight lows will fall into the mid 20s.

Halloween attendees will experience high temperatures of 41 degrees and sunny skies on Thursday, with gale-force winds up to 30 miles per hour possible. Gusty winds will continue overnight as temperatures fall into the upper 20s.
