Canary Weekly – Wednesday weather: Light haze and northerly winds are expected in the Canary Islands

According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), a light haze will spread over the eastern Canary Islands, especially Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, from this afternoon (Wednesday). Despite this, the general weather across the islands will be mostly clear, with light cloudiness expected in the northern regions early in the morning.

At sea, north-easterly winds fluctuate between force 4 and 5, increasing to force 6 by morning off the coast in the south-east and north-west. There will be a north-westerly swell of 1 to 2 meters, in some areas there may also be strong swell.

Island wise forecast for Wednesday:

Lanzarote

  • The island will experience light patches of cloud in the morning, clearing later in the day. The light haze increases in the afternoon. Temperatures remain stable, with a slight increase in maximum values.
  • Wind: Moderate northeast.
  • Temperature: Minimum 21°C, maximum 26°C.

Fuerteventura

  • Clear skies and some morning clouds are expected in the northern half. The light haze will increase throughout the day. Temperatures remain stable except for a slight increase in the west.
  • Wind: Moderate northeast.
  • Temperature: Minimum 20°C, maximum 25°C.

Gran Canaria

  • In the north, cloudy skies will clear by midday, while the rest of the island will be partly cloudy to clear. Later in the day, a light haze forms at high altitudes. Temperatures will change little, with a slight increase in the midlands and west-facing peak areas.
  • Wind: Occasional strong northeast winds in low southeast and northwest areas. A light southerly wind blows on the summits.
  • Temperature: Minimum 22°C, maximum 26°C.

Tenerife

  • Cloudy periods are forecast for the north and east, with partly cloudy skies elsewhere. Temperatures remain stable, with a slight decrease in some eastern and high altitude areas.
  • Wind: Strong northeasterly winds in the southeastern and northwestern lowlands, light northwesterly winds in the central peaks.
  • Temperature: Minimum 21°C, maximum 26°C.

Overall, the mid-week forecast for the Canary Islands suggests relatively calm conditions, apart from emerging haze and moderate winds, providing ideal weather for most outdoor activities. However, those near coastal areas should be aware of the rougher sea conditions.
