Bowling Green man accused of leading deputies on car chase arrested

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – A man who fled from law enforcement Sunday afternoon is facing a slew of charges.

A Warren County sheriff's deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on Pintail Drive, according to a news release.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Aaron Smith, 37, failed to stop and turned onto Teal Street, traveling over 70 miles per hour through the Summit subdivision and onto Dillard Road.

Officers say Smith continued driving on Dillard Road and nearly lost control of his vehicle several times. He then turned onto Neal Howell Road and then onto Elrod Road, where he lost control of the vehicle and crashed on the curve at the 1600 block.

After the vehicle crashed, Smith fled on foot before officers arrested him without incident.

Smith was arrested and booked into the Warren County Regional Jail and served three active warrants. He faces the following additional charges:

  • Speeding, 26 miles per hour or more
  • Reckless driving
  • Disobeying a stop sign
  • Second-degree fleeing or evading police
  • Third degree fleeing or evading police
  • Operating a motor vehicle without an ignition lock
