The Toney Volunteer Fire Department receives equipment to combat gas leaks

TONEY, Ala. (WAFF) – The Toney Volunteer Fire Department announced it has received a grant to purchase three Sensit Gold G2 gas detectors.

Department officials said the tools would better protect the community from potential gas leaks, especially at a time when Huntsville Utilities continues to expand its natural gas service in northwest Madison County.

“The Toney VFD is committed to expanding the level of services we provide to our community,” said Heath Jones, president of the Toney VFD. “Our district continues to receive new natural gas service, and until now we did not have the equipment to detect a leak. This grant will allow us to ensure the safety of our residents and respond to emergencies more effectively.”

The instruments were purchased thanks to a grant sponsored by Senator Tom Butler.
