Worker dies days after workplace incident in Gurnee, Illinois

GURNEE, Ill. (CBS) — A worker died last week after a workplace incident in Gurnee, Illinois, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. Friday, the Gurnee Fire Department and Illinois State Police responded to the Illinois Tollway M-4 building on I-94 near Grand Avenue searching for a person who had been struck by an implement .

The victim, identified as 39-year-old Gregory Bolls of Chicago, was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life-threatening injuries. He later died in the intensive care unit on Sunday.

Preliminary findings indicate that the victim died from blunt force injuries as a result of the incident.

The investigation into his death, including a review of medical records and toxicology tests, is ongoing.

The crash is being investigated by the Illinois State Police and OSHA.
