Panhandle man convicted of selling drugs near Kearney

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – A Panhandle man has been convicted of possessing and distributing dangerous drugs near Kearney.

According to a press release from U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr, from July 2021 to July 2022, Isidro Alvarado worked to sell meth and fentanyl in and around Kearney.

In November 2021, the 36-year-old sold meth and a shotgun to a confidential informant. The investigation into Alvarado and his co-defendant revealed that he was trafficking meth and fentanyl near Kearney and would send the money from the drug proceeds back to Mexico.

On Monday, Alvarado was convicted in federal court in Lincoln on one count of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Sidney man was sentenced to 20 years for drug offenses and 10 years for weapons possession.

Alvarado's co-defendant, Samantha Miller, was sentenced to five years in prison in February.
