The Houston Texans are 6-2 and should have a pretty good chance of making a good playoff appearance given their strength in the passing game.

That strength took a huge hit on Tuesday. According to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero, receiver Stefon Diggs, the team's big offseason addition in a deal with the Buffalo Bills, is out for the season due to a torn ACL he suffered last week.

The Texans traded for Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowler, in one of the biggest moves of the offseason. Diggs was productive this season with 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns. The team pushed Diggs to improve his passing game, which was well received last season during QB CJ Stroud's impressive rookie year. The trio of Diggs, Nico Collins and Tank Dell was one of the best in the NFL. Collins was missed with a hamstring injury but will return this season. The same cannot be said for Diggs.

It's an especially tough blow for Diggs considering he and the Texans restructured the veteran receiver's contract to allow him to become a free agent after this season. Now he's 31 years old and coming off a serious injury that could impact his market.

The Texans are still the best team in the AFC South and should win the division. But their hopes of making the playoffs under the leadership of Stroud and a trio of fantastic receivers took a bit of a hit when news broke that Diggs' season, and perhaps his short Texans career, was over.
