Just in time for Halloween, Ring Cameras is hosting the Great Ghost Search video contest with $100,000 in prize money

The Great Ghost Hunt is underway in time for Halloween and door-to-door trick-or-treating thanks to Ring cameras.

In what the company calls the “busiest doorbell season of the year,” those who submit unedited videos that they believe reveal mysteries of the unexplained during this spooky time of year could be eligible for a $100,000 cash prize.

Submitted videos can be “funny, scary, trendy,” or “all of the above.” Ring has already received over 2,000 customer videos since the competition began on September 23rd. To qualify, video clips must be 30 seconds or less and recorded on an existing Ring device.

HALLOWEEN MOVIE LOVERS CAN TAKE A ROAD TRIP ALONG THE EAST COAST TO THESE SCARY PLACES

Some customer-submitted videos were shared by Ring with Fox News Digital, and we'll leave it up to the viewer to believe it or not.

In a video taken from a home in Los Angeles, a ghostly figure suddenly appears in the frame and appears to place a drink on the floor of their patio.

The homeowner shared, “I'm not aware of anything in particular that has a ghostly story attached to it, but sometimes at night I hear creaking as I go up and down the stairs. I suspected it was paranoia that made me think that normal house creaks sounded like footsteps.”

HALLOWEEN SIDE HUSTLE MAKES MOTHER A FORTUNE FOR HER DECORATING SKILLS

A preschool owner and Ring customer from Fort Collins, Colorado, says he's a “believer” after catching what he believes to be a ghost on his indoor camera, saying, “I'm going about my day , then boom – on the ring.” With the camera, a ghostly figure floats out of the room and glides straight into the bathroom. And yes, it looks like Casper feels right at home. It is not a shadow or an illusion of light – this is a clear, distinctive shape that moves with its purpose.”

"Spirit" captured on camera in the daycare center

“You can't help but wonder if this little ghost just wanted to try out the preschool fun, or if he was perhaps looking for a quiet place. Either way, it's scary and exciting! My neighbor, who has lived here since the 70's, said this land is sacred and haunted…I am convinced that I have captured this ghost on video and have experienced strange events for years – from flying books to spooky ones Fridge found,” the Colorado preschool owner added.

Another video of a “ghost” was captured in Tampa, Florida, using a Ring video doorbell while schools were closed due to Hurricane Helene. The customer shared: “This is the story of the silly mind of 13-year-old Bronson. On the 25th of every month he comes to our doorbell and the music you hear, played by his big brother Barratt on the piano, follows him as he dances.”

“We noticed that he only shows up when it's raining outside. Today he showed up waiting for Hurricane Helene with a crazy cart and a college education,” the Florida customer added.

Official judges for the competition include Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard and paranormal investigator Katrina Weidman. Videos are judged based on four criteria: visibility or clarity of spirit, uniqueness of the post, entertainment value and engagement.
