M4 Max chip leaks ahead of Apple's official SoC reveal with MacBook Pro models

Apple surprised us today by announcing the new Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro chips, and the device is definitely a welcome addition. The design of the device has been slightly optimized, it is now significantly smaller than the last generation, but offers strong performance. In parallel with the announcement of the M4 Mac mini, a developer managed to discover the M4 Max leak on Apple's website.

Apple reveals M4 Max assets ahead of M4 MacBook Pro announcement

The discovery was made by developer Charlie Joseph, who revealed the M4 Max chip using an image on the company's website. The details were shared with Bloomberg's Mark Gurman on social media to attract further attention. Apple recently announced that it will be releasing two new Macs this week, and out of the three, the company has released two new Macs with updated M4 chips. The company is now expected to announce the new M4 MacBook Pro on Wednesday if it keeps up with its trend.

Apple's upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are expected to feature the company's M4 Pro chip and the higher-end M4 Mac chip. The M4 Pro chip is quite powerful as it is the high-end option of the recently announced Mac mini, but the upcoming M4 Max chip will contain an even higher number of cores on the CPU and GPU side, to improve computing and graphics performance.

The latest M4 Max leak comes after the company unveiled the new M4 Pro chip with the redesigned Mac mini. You can check out the image of the M4 Max icon below. However, note that the company could soon fix the error and delete the asset.

The M4 Pro chip has a CPU with up to 14 cores, including 10 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. Additionally, the chip also features a 20-core GPU paired with a 16-core Neural Engine, which will come in handy for Apple Intelligence. The device also features 3 standard Thunderbolt 5 ports for faster data transfer speeds.

For the new M4 MacBook Pro models, we only expect a change in specification, meaning there will be no design changes as part of the deal. We'll be covering the launch in detail, so stay tuned.
