Rockport woman accused of stealing her ex-boyfriend's pickup truck

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A 30-year-old Rockport woman is spending time in the Vanderburgh County Jail after police say she stole thousands of dollars worth of items, including her ex-boyfriend's pickup truck.

In August, Evansville police received a call from a man who lived in the 1500 block of Pollack Avenue.

The man told police his ex-girlfriend, Griffin M. Williams, stole his Dodge Ram pickup.

According to an affidavit, the victim called 911 again later that day to report that Williams had returned and was yelling at him.

As she drove away from the scene at a high rate of speed, the victim said Williams kicked up gravel in the driveway and smashed the rear window of a parked vehicle.

About an hour later, the victim called police again, claiming Williams broke into the house and then ran away.

Officers were unable to locate Williams, but found the stolen pickup truck abandoned in a parking lot east of the home.

Williams is also accused of stealing several items from the home, including a Vivienne Westwood purse, a diamond ring, a cell phone and cash valued at $200 to $300.

Two nights before the incident, the victim said Williams also climbed into his bedroom window and into his bed without his knowledge.

During the investigation leading up to her arrest, investigators said Williams showed them fake phone messages between her and the victim that suggested he let her borrow the truck.

Griffin Marie Williams was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and booked into jail without bail. She is accused of the following:

  • Burglary (2 counts)
  • Theft (5 counts)
  • Car theft
  • Obstruction of justice
  • Simple attack
  • Institutional criminal
  • Criminal mischief
