Megyn reveals behind-the-scenes details of her fiery performance on Bill Maher that went viral – Megyn Kelly

As you may know, I was in Los Angeles on Friday to meet Bill Maher on his show. I really appreciated him inviting me because it was a chance to be in front of an audience that probably wasn't watching The Megyn Kelly Show and I hope we give them something meaningful about topics they don't normally talk about.

Bill gave me the forum to do it and it was a great time. We had some tricky moments and there were some things we agreed on. The thing about Bill Maher is that he's a non-woke, non-left-wing liberal, but he definitely has some serious hatred for Donald Trump. Some say he has Trump Deangement Syndrome. He detests the man. So he's an interesting combination of things.

On Donald Trump

Of course, we bought into Trump being a “fascist,” Trump’s foreign policy, and Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric. You can see some of the highlights from our back and forth in the clip above.

I saw some TDS there and I understand. Bill and Trump have a very, very negative history between them. A lot of people don't like Trump. However, when making a presidential decision, ideally you can examine your personal feelings towards a man and make a decision. I think Bill believes he does. He told me on TV that he thinks I will regret voting for Donald Trump and defending his “fascism.”

I then told him that I did not believe these allegations and that I believed that the Democrats were the ones locking up their enemies. Who called parents “domestic terrorists” for advocating at their school board meetings for their children to even go to school, let alone for not wearing masks? That was the Biden administration.

Who imprisoned people who worked in the previous government? That was the Biden administration. Speaking of Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro, who are the only two people who went to prison for contempt of Congress? They didn't put Eric Holder in prison, and yet he did the same things these guys did. They didn't put current Attorney General Merrick Garland in prison. He did the same.

It was the Biden-Harris administration that launched several cases against its main political rival, Donald Trump. There are two federal lawsuits against Donald Trump stemming from the Justice Department's investigation into him, and then two federal lawsuits in New York and Georgia. The DOJ sent its number three official, Matthew Colangelo, to the New York meeting. So don't tell me the Biden administration wasn't involved in any of these things.

Trump did none of that. I don’t believe this “fascist” claim. I'm sure that's not the case with this audience either, but it's everywhere and Maher and I have argued about it. The audience wasn't with me. That's okay. I don't care. It was important that they heard it.

On radical trans ideology

Bill and I have also worked on the transgender issue. I think he and I are in complete agreement on this point. However, his audience seemed to be unaware of this. When I said, “We cut off the body parts of healthy children, we do that 100%,” the audience scoffed. And Bill made it clear.

This is not a “remote issue,” as Kamala Harris claimed in her interview with Bret Baier when asked about it. It's the issue of our time – both in terms of children's rights and women's rights – and I think Bill completely agreed with me on that. I also think his audience may have learned a thing or two. Some people actually came up to me afterwards and said it was a feast for the eyes. I really hope that's true.

Thanks, Bill

I thank Bill Maher for that, because he has a completely different audience. I think he's much more left-leaning, but I think he also has conservatives watching him. He is very funny. His jokes and new rules are absolutely hilarious. He still wants to make you laugh, regardless of your political differences with him. He's not in it for the applause. He really likes to laugh, which I really appreciate.

And after everything was said and done, we all went back to the green room where there is a bar. We had a drink, talked, laughed and had a good time. I really appreciated the invitation and Bill's willingness to have conversations with people who disagree with him and with whom he disagrees. This is one of the reasons why he is a very important voice in American politics.
