Darryl Johnson and Tarika Gilbert are facing numerous drug charges

LIMESTONE CO., Ala. (WAFF) – Two people were arrested after a drug raid in Athens on Monday.

The Limestone County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Narcotics Division and SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a home on Beech St.

The arrest warrant was the result of criminal and narcotics detectives working together to investigate a fentanyl overdose death.

During the search, investigators seized drugs and drug paraphernalia at the home where 49-year-old Darryl Johnson and 34-year-old Tarika Gilbert were being held.

Johnson was charged with Trafficking in Drugs (Fentanyl), Illegal Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana (2nd Degree).

Gilbert was charged with Trafficking in Drugs – Fentanyl, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana – 2nd Degree.

Bond is not intended for either Johnson or Gilbert.
