My analysis

Defense will lead the way in this C-USA battle.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs allow the fewest points per game in the conference. They also give up the fewest rushing yards (113) and the second-fewest passing yards (194) per game.

The Bulldogs' stopping unit has also given up the second-fewest touchdowns (17) and boasts the second-best red zone defense in the conference. They also allowed fewer than 22 points in three of the last four games.

They face a Sam Houston Bearkats offense that is struggling without QB Hunter Watson under center. The Bearkats have scored 24 points in their last two games, but Watson is likely for Tuesday's game.

Watson's offense ranks third in the conference in rushing yards per game (207). RB Jay Ducker has secured the eighth-most rushing yards in C-USA, but Watson is more of a runner than a shooter, and the Bearkats' offense likely won't produce its fourth-best 27 points per game.

The Bearkats defense is opportunistic. They rank among the nation's leaders in takeaways (14) while giving up the third-fewest rushing yards (129) and passing yards (201).

That resulted in a fourth-best 23 points allowed per game. This defense will make it interesting for a Bulldogs offense to get anywhere close to their season average (24 ppg), and they have only reached that mark in two of their last five.

Louisiana Tech freshman QB Evan Bullock is throwing big and has yet to throw an interception. He's also been sacked 15 times in the last five years, which wouldn't work against a Bearkats D-line with 16 sacks.

That's why I play the under. The defense out-performs what their opponents out-perform. Each offense struggles at times, but each defense has been consistent and I expect a tough, low-scoring game on Tuesday.

Louisiana Tech has been held to under 17 points in two of its last five games. Bullock may have a clean interception mark, but he spends too much time on his back facing one of the most aggressive defenses in the C-USA game.

The Bearkats love to run the football, but they will have a hard time getting anything done against C-USA's toughest defense.

Louisiana Tech has allowed more than 29 points in two of its last three games. Watson is probably less than 100% and his offense won't be competing for big yards or surpassing their team's point total unless he is.
