10-year-old boy 'crying' after catching Freddie Freeman's World Series Grand Slam ball

A little boy's dreams came true when he caught a home run ball in this year's World Series – possibly the most historic home run ball of all time.

Freddie Freeman's grand slam in Game 1 of the World Series not only gave the Dodgers the victory, but also gave 10-year-old Zachary a chance to catch the ball that Freeman drilled into right field, making it the first ever Grand Slam in the World Series game.

After Zachary, whose parents chose to keep his last name secret, caught the ball, his parents spoke to NBC News about the once-in-a-lifetime moment. “When he hit the ball, we knew it was going to leave the park, but we had no idea we were going to catch it,” they told the outlet. “The ball hit the seat in front of us and rolled a little on the floor. Then I understood.”

Nico, Zachary's father, said of his son's feelings at that moment: “He was just crying – tears streaming down his eyes and a big smile on his face. He only had tears of joy.”

Nico continued, adding that even Yankee fans were able to enjoy the moment that his son will remember forever.

“They share the same opinion. It was incredible. Even the Yankees fans out there were overwhelmed by what happened and even quite excited. It was just an incredible atmosphere,” he said.

In the days since he caught the home run ball, young Zachary told NBC News that the response he has received from fans has been overwhelming. “Everyone wanted to take a photo with me. Everyone wanted to see the ball. I was just bullied,” he said.

The Dodgers and Yankees will face off again in Game 3 of the World Series on Oct. 28 when the series moves to the Bronx. The Dodgers currently lead the series 2-0.
