Lancaster man accused of killing PDC resident

A Grant County man incarcerated in Prairie du Chien is suspected of involuntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of another man.

Jessie Slaughter, 39, of Lancaster, is in jail after making her first appearance in Crawford County Court on Monday. According to Prairie du Chien police, 65-year-old Daniel Welsch was found dead in a home in that city last Friday evening, October 25th. Welsch reportedly died after being attacked with a sharp object.

Slaughter was arrested the next day. The two men reportedly knew each other.

A warrant was issued for Slaughter's arrest after he failed to appear at a court hearing in Oneida County this summer. His next hearing in Crawford County is expected in mid-November.
