Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga comes off the bench against the Pelicans

The Golden State Warriors brought forward Jonathan Kuminga to the bench in their 124-106 home win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.

Kuminga entered the contest with a 7:10 lead in the first quarter. He played 28 minutes and scored 17 points on 6 of 13 shooting.

Kuminga being benched is a fascinating development in his fourth season. A contract extension has not yet been finalized for either side, and team officials have discussed using him for the next step.

The Warriors started Brandin Podziemski, Buddy Hield, Moses Moody, Draymond Green and Trayce Jackson-Davis against the Pelicans. Golden State was without Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins and De'Anthony Melton in the win.
