When is Dodgers vs. Yankees World Series Game 5? Date, time and statements

“Obviously we're in a tough spot,” Cole said before Tuesday night's 11-4 win at Yankee Stadium, “but there's still a lot of baseball left to play and anything can happen.” We're looking forward to getting back out there be. Hey, we're still in the World Series. Hey, we're in the Bronx. We still have a chance at this thing.”

The Yankees avoided becoming the first team to be defeated in the World Series since the Tigers in 2012 and the first Yanks team to do so since 1976. They forced a Game 5 at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night – a game that has proven difficult for some previous clubs that have lost the first three games of a postseason series, but in this case it's a big, big deal for a team capable of producing a pitcher of Cole's ilk.

If he's anything like the Gerrit Cole we saw in Game 1, when he held the Dodgers to one run on four hits over six-plus innings at Dodger Stadium, then the Yankees' pulse going into… Game 4 was revived, speeding up in Game 5.

“No one has done what we want to achieve [in the World Series]” said catcher Austin Wells, “so I think if you put too much pressure at this point, you're going to fail and you're not going to enjoy the journey. I think we’re there to see what happens and have fun.”

As for the Dodgers, the four innings that Landon Knack pitched in a bullpen game in Game 4 is of great importance heading into Game 5. Because now, behind starter Jack Flaherty, they have all of their powerful relief arms to call upon in this game .

Although they didn't finish their work Tuesday night and have their hands full with Cole, there's no denying that the Dodgers are still in charge as they try to win the World Series for the second time in five seasons and the first First time to win a full season since 1988.

“I feel great, I feel great,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “It’s about the people you have available to you. They are all rested. So we have people who can drive up/down. So where are we? [Wednesday]knowing full well that there is a day off [Thursday, should the Series go to a Game 6]We are in a great position with leverage relief.”

The Yankees are trying to become just the second team ever to win a postseason series after trailing 3-0 in the ALCS, joining the 2004 Red Sox. They already became the first World Series team in 10 tries to go 3-0 and force a Game 5 (the last being the 1970 Reds).

You have life. You have Cole. Now let's see what they do with it.

When does the game take place and how can I watch it?
Game 5 of the World Series will be played at Yankee Stadium in New York on Wednesday at 8:08 p.m. ET/5:08 p.m. PT. All World Series games begin at the same time and are televised on FOX.

All games are available in the US on MLB.TV (requires authentication with a participating pay-TV provider). Live games are also available in select countries outside the US. Detailed information can be found here.

Who are the starting pitchers?
Dodgers: RHP Jack Flaherty (13-7, 3.17 ERA during regular season)
Flaherty hit a good pitch in Game 1 of the World Series, allowing two runs over 5 1/3 innings, and he will now get a chance to close out the Fall Classic for his hometown team. The right-hander struggled in regulation against the Mets, allowing eight runs over three innings in Game 5 of the NLCS. But more than that, Flaherty has been solid for the Dodgers this postseason.

Yankees: RHP Gerrit Cole (8-5, 3.41 ERA during regular season)
Cole limited the Dodgers to one run on four hits over six-plus innings in Game 1 in Los Angeles, striking out four without a walk. This postseason, he is 1-0 with a 2.82 ERA in four starts, although he has not thrown more than 89 pitches in any of those outings.

What are the expected starting lineups?
Dodgers: Against Cole, the Dodgers will field the same nine as they did in Game 1 and throughout most of the World Series. The only question is whether Will Smith will go sixth or eighth.

Yankees: Will the Yankees return to the Game 1 lineup they used against Flaherty? If so, here's how they staged it at Dodger Stadium.

How will the bullpens line up after the starter?
Dodgers: After using Ben Casparius and Landon Knack for most of Game 4, the Dodgers are now in a position to use just about anyone in the bullpen on Wednesday night. Blake Treinen hasn't pitched in a few days and will be available for two innings. Aside from Daniel Hudson, who struggled in Game 4, the Dodgers should have plenty of coverage.

Yankees: The eighth-inning rally in Game 4 was significant because it saved Luke Weaver (21 pitches) from returning to the mound for Game 9, keeping him available for Game 5. Other relievers who appeared in Game 4 included Tim Hill (five pitches). ), Clay Holmes (13 pitches), Mark Leiter Jr. (18 pitches) and Tim Mayza (15 pitches).

Any notable injuries?
Dodgers: Ohtani (left shoulder) and Freeman (right ankle) continue to play with their respective injuries and are expected to start Game 5.

Yankees: Rizzo is suffering from two broken fingers on his right hand, which presents a pain tolerance issue as the fractures will not heal until the offseason.

Who's hot and who's not?
Dodgers: Freeman continued his dominant run in the World Series, hitting a home run in all four games against the Yankees. The star first baseman has now hit a home run in six consecutive games at the Fall Classic, a new record. He also has 10 RBIs in four games. If the Dodgers pull it off, Freeman will likely take home his first World Series MVP trophy.

Yankees: Soto reached base twice in Game 4, drawing a walk and hitting a double, and he leads the Yankees with a 1.015 OPS during the World Series. Rizzo has a .412 on-base percentage in this Fall Classic, with two hits, three walks and two hit-by-pitches. Maybe Judge's RBI single in the eighth inning, his first World Series RBI, triggers the captain's bat. He is 2 of 15 in the series.

• The Yankees have won eight of the last 11 World Series meetings between the clubs (1941, 1947, 1949, 1952, 1953, 1956, 1977, 1978). The Dodgers won three times (1955, 1963, 1981).

• The Dodgers and Yankees previewed the World Series at Yankee Stadium June 7-9, with Los Angeles winning two of the three games. Teoscar Hernández hit a two-run double in the 11th inning of the first game, a 2-1 Dodgers win, and hit two home runs in an 11-3 loss the next night. The Yanks saved the final with a 6-4 win, powered by Trent Grisham's three-run home run off Tyler Glasnow.
