Geauga County Sheriff's Deputy Injured, Business Severely Damaged in Accident

MUNSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A Munson Township family business is badly damaged after a crash between a truck and a Geauga County Sheriff's patrol car.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirms that a 29-year-old sheriff's deputy was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries following the crash.

The Country Farleys store now has a large yellow tarp over the front and debris is strewn everywhere.

Emergency crews closed Mayfield Road at State Route 44 in Munson.

They were called here shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday about the accident involving the two vehicles.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the sheriff's department cruiser, driven by a 29-year-old, was traveling south when it struck a westbound Dodge Ram.

According to investigators, the officer did not give in and forced both cars off the road and into the building.

The owners of Country Farleys Store live upstairs and heard the loud noise.

They came down the stairs to the front of their store practically betrayed.

They told our overnight news tracker that there were no major injuries here, but the cleanup effort would be arduous.

It comes as they prepare to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this beloved family business.

They shared images and videos that captured the aftermath and extensive damage after the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said alcohol, drugs or speed were not factors.

The investigation is ongoing.
