Two women “fight” over MAGA hats on a British Airways flight – both are thrown out

Two women were reportedly removed from a British Airways flight at Heathrow Airport after arguing over a “Make America Great Again” hat.

The altercation began as the women, aged 40 and 60, were preparing to board a flight to Austin, Texas, on Saturday.

One asked the other to take off her MAGA hat, leading to a confrontation that allegedly escalated into beatings in the locker room.

Flight BA191 was scheduled to take off at 12:10 p.m., but finally took off at 2:11 p.m. without the two women on board.

The ladies were both booked in Premium Economy. The captain asked for help and police arrived to escort the women off the plane.

Afterwards, each filed a complaint against the other for affair.

“Shortly after 12.45pm on Monday 28 October, police at Heathrow became aware of an incident involving two women waiting to board a plane in Terminal 5,” a police statement said. “A woman in her 40s and a woman in her 60s made counter allegations of affray. The investigation is ongoing.”

British Airways said in a statement: “We have apologized to our customers for the delay and will get it underway as quickly as possible.”

“With the US presidential election so close, tensions are enormous. “The flight crew could not risk a large-scale mishap at 30,000 feet,” an unidentified source was quoted as saying The sun.

“BA officials cannot recall a time when a flight was delayed because of a passenger's baseball cap. It was extraordinary.”

The Independent the airline has asked for comment.

Red MAGA hats sold on Donald Trump's website for £50 have previously sparked fights between supporters of the former Republican president and Democrats.

In January 2019, a confrontation between Nathan Phillips, a Native American elder, and Nick Sandmann, a student at Covington Catholic High School, sparked a national debate about the meaning and perception of MAGA hats in the United States.
