Devin Pilk is accused of abusing his child

ATHENS, Ala. (WAFF) – An Athens father is facing charges for allegedly abusing his child, officials say.

Athens police said they received a report of suspected child abuse of a 7-year-old on October 16.

Officials said the child was treated for his injuries.

After an investigation, officials said the child's injuries were believed to have been caused by the child's father.

Authorities on Monday arrested and charged 24-year-old Devin Pilk of Athens with intentional abuse of a child under 18.

Pilk is being held in the Limestone County Jail pending his bond hearing.
